Our Approach

Research states there are four key components in child development: social, emotional, physical and intellectual. Our goal at Kennett Square Preschool Cooperative is to develop the whole child by focusing on these four key components. While academics play an important role in child development, KSPC believes that it is our responsibility to provide many other opportunities for enhancing the whole child.

Social

KSPC fosters communication both verbally and nonverbally.  Children make new friends, gain confidence, self-esteem and communication skills necessary for a lifetime of healthy relationships.

Emotional

We are a family at KSPC! Children enjoy a safe, nurturing atmosphere where they can learn to express themselves as the special, unique child they are.  The comfort of our “home away from home” atmosphere gives children the confidence to value their individuality and have fun being themselves!

Physical

We feel strongly that focusing on the physical health and well-being of children helps them grow up safe and strong. Many of our activities center around motor-skill development, mobility, exercise and coordination to help ensure that our children have a healthy body for a lifetime.

Intellectual

Our program develops intellectual ability by focusing on judgment, perception, memory, reasoning, critical thinking, and language through age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate activities. We believe that a child’s brain power at this developmental stage is developed by learning through play. Each day literacy, numbers, science and social studies concepts are integrated into play experiences. Our passionate and engaging teachers provide a balance between choice and structured activities, between teacher and child-directed experiences and between group and individual experiences.
